About Us

Ears on Wheels provides help to the homebound with hearing needs. As retirees we are using our gift of audiology to voluntarily serve others. Audiology is the non-medical management of hearing loss from diagnosis to rehabilitation.

Combined, we have over 85 years of experience in testing hearing, diagnosing hearing loss, counseling and dispensing hearing aids.  Before we retired in January of 2012, our audiology practice was located at Dr. James Kemper’s otology and neurotology medical practice in North Austin.

Mission:

Vision:
We hope to gain the confidence of caregivers and our audiology colleagues.  Ultimately, we hope others will be motivated to assist us and/or to start up “Ears on Wheels” in their communities.

Inspiration:
Through the years we have developed a keen awareness and empathy for those with hearing problems and their families.  We want to give back using our experience and knowledge as retirees.  The son of one of our patients called saying he was in town for the holidays visiting Mom and that she could not hear and said her hearing aid had been broken for three months.  ”Can I bring it to you?”  We had it fixed in an instant.  It was just a simple cleaning of wax in the receiver.
